My Nit Witty Cartoony Comic Story
How I Taught Myself How to Draw Cartoony Things
By Chris Dunmire, www.creativeslush.com
Before I started drawing my Nit Wits comics in 2002, I was an avid doodler (since 8th grade!) and an aspiring artist with a creative brain that preferred to draw whimsical fun cartoony things instead of detailed, bulging-muscle “superhero” characters. I soon wondered if all comic artists could be categorized into one of two groups: “Superman” artists and “Snoopy” artists. If so, I was definitely a Snoopy artist!
At first I wasn’t very skilled at drawing cartoony things, but I didn’t allow this to deter me from my dream of creating a comic based on my love for witty word play. Ever since I was 10 years old I wanted to be a comic artist and that childhood dream wasn't going away. So I learned how to improve my cartoony skills by plunging in and drawing my Nit Wits comics! The result? A creative comic dream come true.
I continue to practice my cartoony drawing skills and create more fun Nit Wits comics all the time just because I can! And with my experience, I will help you gain confidence in your own cartoony drawing ability while encouraging you to explore your own inner cartoony world.
Yes, it's absolutely true: If I can draw cartoony things, You Can Draw Cartoony Things! too! •
